The favorite moment

I guess there has to be a favorite moment from your daughter's wedding
that sticks in your heart and mind forever.
It was right before this photo.
The ceremony was done,
the reception was over,
the eco-fetti gauntlet had been run
and the new couple was safely loaded in the limo that would elegantly
take them away to start this new and exciting life together.
Then I heard a familiar sweet voice softly call out
the sweetest word in the English language;

My daughter wanted a kiss goodbye and she whispered a quiet thank you.

My life is all about being a good Husband and Daddy.
There is no better feeling than when you feel you have gotten it right.

When I am old(er) and feeble(er) this memory will still make me smile,
(and make my caregivers wonder what I am up to.)

  1. :) Thanks for being such a great dad. Coming from some one who has a not-so-great relationship with her dad, knowing that you strive to be a good Husband/Daddy makes me smile. If only there were more like you out there. One of the reasons I love my fiance so much is becuase I KNOW he will be an amazing father. I hope we will have a daughter and one day be able to recreate the scene you describe above. Gahh now you're making me cry!

  2. "My life is all about being a good Husband and Daddy."
I don't always achieve that goal.
"There is no better feeling than when you feel you have gotten it right." The opposite is also true, and I have experienced both this year. Don't give up on your Dad.

  4. I have been reading your blog for a while ( hope you don't mind) and it has been the best. I never knew you were such a good writer along with all your other talents and abilities. You have had some journey this year and I am so glad this wedding turned out so well. The marriage will be even better. You made me laugh and cry and feel blessed to know you and your family.

  5. you are not only a fantastic husband and father but a son that has always been there for his mother, who loves him dearly

  6. i've been reading your blog for a while now, and never commented but today i just wanted to say that this was such a sweet and thoughtful post and it made me tear up!
